Thinking to stay safe & happy in the later stage of life is a basic right of every Indian.  This is  more required for senior persons @60 and above.  Let us look what are the challenges we face as Seniors..

1. Living Space

When you become more senior, you may face mobility challenges, some times you may need a helping hand to support or a handle in place to standup or to sit. Most people needs to make such modifications at home. Finding solutions for it and fixing it is some time tedious.  What about a new house with all such necessary systems in place?!

2. Safety & Security

Safety and security is a big concern for most senior persons, including public places or at home, we have to be careful about intruders, chain snatchers like people.   Seniors may become soft target for them.  Putting security camera may not be enough, certain times intruders acts as helpers or job seekers or workers etc.  Fixing security systems, maintaining it may be costly.

Also we need to be careful about accidents like slipping down in the house. We need to  Practice self-care and rest to maintain your physical and mental well-being. Prioritize safety when performing chores, especially tasks that involve bending, lifting, or climbing. Use assistive devices such as grab bars or stools to reduce the risk of accidents. Listen to your body, practice relaxation techniques and seek help if you experience pain or discomfort while performing personal responsibilities.

3. Home chores

Managing household chores like cooking, utensils & house cleaning, grocery purchases etc. can become more challenging as we age. But there are several strategies that can help senior citizens effectively maintain their homes. House maids are sometimes more help full. But finding and maintaining them is not an easy task now a days.

4.. Loneliness & Social Isolation

As children grow up and move away and also friends and family members may also have their own responsibilities. Some older adults may experience social isolation or loneliness. Maintaining social connections and finding new ways to engage with others becomes important for mental and emotional well-being.

5. Health Problems

Aging often brings about various health issues such as arthritis, hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, and decreased mobility. Managing these health conditions and maintaining overall well-being becomes a priority.

6. Family Dynamics & Emotional challenges

Relationship dynamics within families may shift as children leave home for employment, getting married and have children of their own. Additionally, dealing with issues such as divorce, remarriage or the loss of  spouse can present emotional challenges.

10. End-of-Life Planning

Confronting mortality and making decisions about end-of-life care, estate planning and legacy becomes increasingly important as individuals reach their senior years.
